Organic Electronics Education (OEE)

The Organic Electronics Education (OEE) project is developing a comprehensive M.Sc. and Ph.D. program in organic electronics at Heidelberg University. Institutes from Heidelberg University, KIT, TU Braunschweig, TU Darmstadt, MPI for Polymeric Research and University of Mannheim are actively involved in our educational program.

Organic electronics is a novel research area, which embraces fundamental and applied science as well as engineering. Outstanding new discoveries in this field are constantly leading to fascinating applications. As a result, the global market for organic electronics is increasing rapidly.

The novelty and interdisciplinary aspect inherent in organic electronics are responsible for the scarce educational offer in this subject. Moreover, the few existing courses are spread out at several universities all around the country. OEE is building a research and education framework for students who want to specialize in this interdisciplinary field. We have created a new specialization within the M.Sc. in Physics (started October 2010) and plan to provide a Ph.D. program by October 2011.

OEE takes place in the framework of the excellence cluster "Forum Organic Electronics". It involves 26 enterprises, universities and research centers in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region. This activity is funded by the Ministry of Education and Research.
